Electronic Waste
The average usage duration of a Consumer Electronics device is 18 months.
By giving a Notebook, Tablet, smartphone a second life, you prevent an electronic device becoming electronic waste. The world produces around 20 million tons of electronic waste every year. This is a huge problem, since a large amount of electronics ends up in landfills and toxic metals get into the environment. Many of the items we throw away are not even broken, they are just older models we felt we needed to upgrade.
The figures show that if we do nothing this problem only becomes bigger. The solution is simple: we need to make the products we already have last longer. Buying a refurbished computer will not only save you money, it will save one more item from going to an early grave in the form of landfill, potentially saving toxic substances from harming the environment.
